Family Fotorama

I was debating on sharing the link or waiting until I had the photos and could upload my favorites here, but we all know that it will be months before THAT happens!

Spring Sun

Thursday Oliver, Roxy and I took advantage of the wonderful sunny Oregon spring day. Since the weather is often very picky during Spring you HAVE to get out in the sun when it is here! I got to sleep in for the first time in a few weeks and was feeling energetic (the sunshine didn't hurt either!) After breakfast I loaded Oliver up in the stroller and grabbed Roxy's leash and we headed out on our walk that we haven't been able to take for months.
My Midwife had of course advised some walking as well to help bring the baby further into my pelvis, so off we went. Once we got to the end of the path, we found a nice flat spot in the middle of the biggest grassy area and plopped down. I let Oliver get out and run around, which he was giddy about. While he ran around I took the opportunity to brush some mats out of Roxy's fur, something she was NOT happy about!
I also took this time to take a lot of pictures...

The belly. 39 weeks 4 days.
Trying to get him to sit still....not as easy as it used to be!
It was really nice to get out and have a nice relaxing day, though I may have walked a little Too much. I was in so much pain on the way back home and struggling to get there. After some rest and a nap for both O and myself I was much better and today barely sore at all. I am happy to find that the chiropractor's work has really helped. Before I would have been sore for days!
Today Oliver hit the 19 month mark which somehow makes me feel better about the age difference between the two, every little bit helps I think. He still refuses to say Mama or Mommy and will answer with either "No!" or "Dada". Graham got a kick out of that this morning and even got him to call him Daddy. Nice.
I think I am now allowed to take my midwife's advice on moving the baby down into the pelvis though I don't know if I really want to...but I will do it anyway as not to disappoint her on Tuesday or to have to lie that I did! The next couple of days will consist of some walking and some squats and i guess eating a lot of Basil.
Sunday and Monday are supposed to be really nice and I am hoping for a family trip to Sip & Kranz and the fountain for some water fun. Having Graham be there will let me be more relaxed about Oliver getting to explore a little more freely. Plus I will be prepared with his swim attire!

Valentine's Fun

I was not able to get Oliver to still on the couch and hold his Valentine's Day balloon (hence the crying pictures from yesterday) But I did capture this while showing him how to take pictures with the camera and decided to have a little fun today during nap time.

Side note: Turns out the No's are reserved for me. Daddy is able to actually lay O on the changing table and change a diaper with only jibber jabber and pleasantries. A factor could have been that they hadn't seen each other for two days...we'll see what the next two days bring.

Season for Strawberries

I think I have always taken Oregon strawberries for granted, that is until we moved to San Francisco. The strawberries there were never a juicy, or sweet or even very strawberry-ie. Graham used to rave all the time to the people at the Ritz about Oregon berries and they often just shrugged him off. Last June while I was visiting for Ann's baby shower I picked up a flat of fresh picked berries in Lebanon, packed the best ones in tupperware and flew them back to SF in my suitcase! Graham finally convinced all those Californians that Oregon has the best strawberries.
Growing up I never really thought of there being a strawberry season (usually I just knew that they were in the garden ready to be picked and eaten and we ate a lot of strawberry shortcake) even though I attended the Strawberry Parade and Festival religiously every year! Living in CA opened my eyes to another one of Oregon's great pleasures and we are very happy to be sharing that with Oliver.
First bite is always a sour face.
