For a couple of weeks, Oliver was testing out the Monster waters getting ready for the terrible twos... Last week he was pretty good and even went a couple of days without any time outs. We were also struggling with getting him to eat. I feel like this past week confirmed my theory that it may have been teething issues as he has eaten Breakfast and Lunch everyday. Dinner not so much, but that is because his lunch is pretty late in the day and he is pretty worn out. His bed time has moved up most days to sometime between 7pm & 8pm due to him getting up between 7 & 8 in the morning. This then pushes nap time up to 11 or 12 instead of 1 or 2. Though some days no naps are had, only quiet time playing and singing in his crib.
I am amazed every day how fast he is learning and changing. Just watching his play is amazing. He has been into grouping items or lining them up. He loves to play with his mini pots and pans and Melissa & Doug wood food. This week i caught him taking a bottle, holding upside down and dipping a comb inside, puling it out and blowing on it just like bubbles. We haven't played with bubbles for 2-3 months now and I just couldn't believe that he remembered that let alone found 2 completely different items to recreate it.
He is very much into mimicking now too. He saw me sitting with my hands clasped and started clasping his hands. He saw some one shake hands on TV and now he shakes hands. When watching Wall-E, he will act out scenes of the movie either as they are happening or right before. If you teach him a game he will repeat it over and over and remember it for later.
When he has his mic he sings Old MacDonald and last week he started playing Patty Cake, though a much shorter version that consists of 2 hand pats, a rolling, maybe a throwing in a pan and a Yay! with arms above the head followed by clapping and repeated.
Some new favorite words are: cracker, cookie, upside down (pronounced, up - side - dowwnnn), walk, down, Wall-E (waww weee), and not new but a favorite: Thank you (dink dooooo). The other old stand bys are No, Oh no, Uh oh, & What'd you do? (waa doo dooo?)
