Wednesday we signed the closing papers on the house!
Today was supposed to be the original closing/possession date, but the seller wanted another week to move out and was about ready to walk away from the deal. We will take possession next Friday, the 14th, at 5pm. We are so excited! Though it does only give us 2 weeks to do all the work that needs to be done and move in.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we did some price checking on items we will need for the work that needs to be done. Last night I did some craigslist browsing and found all the tile we need for the bathroom at a fraction of the cost! The field tiles aren't exactly what we wanted (slightly larger) but for the price it is totally worth it. They happen to be Pratt & Larson tiles, which is a very high end tile store in town. I also found Subway tiles by the same company but have yet to hear back from the guy. I also found black tiles but we need to do another price check on those to see if it is a deal or not. Graham will be picking up the Octagon tiles tonight as well as 200 20"x20" carpet tiles from another guy. The tiles are only $25! That is .13 a tile! There are 2 colors, sage green and a tan. I am hoping to get 2 rooms done with them. The green maybe for my studio and the tan for the sun room...
I am anxious to get in the house and see what state it is in. The seller had a big Estate Sale last weekend and his Listing Agent ordered him a large dumpster as well. This week a heating contractor was also installing a primary source of heat which we aren't sure what it is...Surprise! It is either baseboard heaters or wall heaters, both terms have been used and we agreed to what ever was cheapest to get FHA approval.
Luckily Graham won't start restaurant hours until the end of the month so he will be able to go over to the house after work. First off will be scrubbing the place with TSP. The bathroom has to be gutted, the whole inside of the house painted with Odor/Stain blocking primer, a new bathroom installed, and the main floor floors dealt with.
Some of you have seen the pictures already either on my iPod or on Facebook, but here they are again...

The owner did tile work on it years ago. It's actually kinda cool and it just needs a mantle.
